Honeymoon - Bruges

Thursday, January 19, 2012

So while I am waiting for our wedding pictures, lets talk about the honeymoon!!! It wasn't too hard for us to decide on the type of honeymoon we wanted to go on. We wanted to do something a little different and something that we might not get to do for a while...so we chose Europe! We were planningon spending our first married Christmas on our trip, so we wanted to be somewhere that we knew would have open stores/restaurants. We have friends and family that go to Belgium a lot, so we chose Bruges and Brussels. We also wanted to go somewhere that was romantic, so we also chose Paris!

We flew out the day after the wedding from Huntsville. We connected in Atlanta, then flew from there to Brussels. When we landed in Brussels we hopped on a train and headed to our first destination: Bruges!

We were in Bruges for 2 nights (12/19 - 12/21). It was such a cute place! We felt like we were in a Christmas village! Everyone was so nice and the food was great! We were happy we chose this as our first destination because we were able to relax here and adjust to the time change. Bruges is a place you enjoy just walking around and seeing all of the beautiful sights! It is surrounded by little water canals and has beautiful parks! It is known as the Venice of the North!

On the Train to Bruges

I think we look pretty good for being up for what felt like 100 hours!

Beautiful church down the street from our hotel

There were tons of food stands in the "Market" area...we weren't hungry until we passed by!

Dinner at Mole Pole the first night

This was taken on a bridge that we crossed 1000 times walking everywhere! It was such a beautiful view!

Of course we had to test the Belgium Waffles :)

The Market at night...

It looked like a Christmas Village you see in the movies!

Strolling around Bruges we passed beautiful places!

Market again!

There were some beautiful garden!

Hope you enjoyed Bruges! Next up.....Paris!
