Brussels

Our last stop on our honeymoon was Brussels. This is also where we spent our first Christmas as a Married couple :) Brussels in winter is like a big Christmas village! We weren't sure what to expect here on Christmas day. At home everything shuts down...even Wal-Mart!! So we were happy to see that the festivities picked up on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!

We left Paris (12/23) in the late afternoon and took the train to Brussel. We stayed at the Le Meridien, it was a great location! Within walking distance to everything!
Our 1st hotel room....the walls even had little lights on it to look like constellations!

First night out (12/23)
Our first real day walking around (Christmas Eve), we explored the Grand Place. It was such a beautiful place! All the Christmas decorations made it look like a little Christmas village!

We of course stopped for a waffle :)

That night we headed out to dinner then stopped for some drinks at Le Roy... recommended by the Hoaglands, and now recommended by the Koenemanns! Great atmosphere and located in the Grand Place square, so great view!

Below is our room #2....the fire alarm in our room #1 went off both nights we were in it! Now I can't even explain how terrifying those sirens are!!!! I woke up thinking the building was on fire and trying to figure out what I should grab first!! Well the place wasn't on fire, so we talked to the front desk and the upgraded us to a new and bigger room! Well the alarm went off in that room too!! So the only explanation I can think of is that we had left our adaptor in the wall every night and maybe it got too hot or something. So word of advice....don't leave your adaptor in the plug over night!!

Christmas Day we got up and went to church down the street. It was a beautiful church! The service was in French so we didn't really know what was being said, but just being there where people have worshiped for hundreds of years really moves you.

After church we were planning on going to a big Christmas lunch, but we were soooo stuffed and bloated from the rich food we had eaten all week that we decided on pizza instead! Brussels has a great Italian area, so we had an awesome lunch!

Merry Christmas!

That night we headed back down to the Grand Place for the light show.

After the show we headed to the hotel and packed up for our early morning flight.

We had such a GREAT trip!!! I can't wait for us to go back to Europe on day!! I have a big Bucket List I am working on!!
